How do I repair a frozen clutch on my ford 2000

Depends what's frozen. Can you push the pedal in? Is there a cover underneath that can be removed? If you can push the pedal down and it feels normal then tie the clutch pedal down and go away for a day or so. You might get lucky and it will release on it's own. If you can remove a cover underneath or on the side then you can maybe pry the disc away from the pressure plate or the flywheel with a screwdriver or pry bar. If the disc is rusted on then you'll probably have to hammer on the pry bar to get it to go in between. If you can't get at the clutch through an inspection hole then you'll have to split the tractor and free the clutch up that way. If you go the splitting route then when you put the tractor back together I usually run a bead of silicone around the top of the clutch housing so that water can't get in and freeze the clutch again. I have been known to drill 2" holes into clutch housings to make my own inspection holes. It's faster than splitting the tractor and if put in an inconspicuous spot they aren't real noticeable. A frost plug closes the hole up again.

I have had this happen a couple of times. If you can access it spray some penetrate on input shaft hopefully it will penetrate between shaft and disc. If it can be done safely crank in gear drive it around with clutch pedal depress. If it has loader dig with it to put bind on clutch the heat from operating it will help to free up also keep pressing clutch pedal in and out while operating. If all else fails then you have to split tractor. If it does free up when not using wire clutch pedal down this helps this not occur again. Good luck and be careful

Need help, have 1973 ford 2000 3cyl diesel. Clutch works fine when PTO is not engaged. With PTO engaged it will not stop or come out of gear with clutch pedal depressed. When I disengage the PTO it will work again.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe these tractors have a two stage clutch where you push half ways down and the transmission is disengaged and when you push the pedal all the way down the pto is disengaged. What I think has happened is that the pto clutch is not releasing and also the pto shaft and the transmission shafts are seized together.

Let me explain a bit more about a two stage clutch. There are two clutches on the flywheel. One for the engine and one for the transmission. These two clutches operate two different shafts and the one shaft is inside the other. Ie one shaft is hollow.

We did the bore a hole fix on my old Fiat-Allis. Then pried the disk with a screw driver. It was easy to do and cured the problem. It would have been simpler had they had an access cover, but what the hay. Works fine now and the cluth is now depressed all winter like I should have done in the first place. Splitting the tractor for that would have been totally unnecessary since it has no oil in that particular clutch.

The more I think about this I'm convinced I'm wrong on at least part of it. If the pto clutch was seized to the flywheel and the shafts were seized together you wouldn't have any clutch action at all. So there is some other problem but I'm not familiar enough with these tractors to figure it out without having to take the tractor apart.
