Ford 2000
Hello all,

Long time reader here. I've owned my first and only tractor for around 12 months now on my farm. I've got an old Ford 2000 (not sure what year) with a FEL. Its only used for a bit of slashing and lifting hay bails / logs with the forks.
Just recently I've had issues with the gearbox jamming / shifter not locating gears. I managed to find reverse again and got her back to the shed.
I did a bit of reading and removed the gearbox (transmission) cover. Does anyone have any reference photos I can compare mine too?
It would appear that someone has done some modifications to the tops of the shifter forks as well as the bottom of the gear lever (ie filed it square).
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Take the shift lever out of the lid and weld up the bottom of the lever and file it down till it fits in the shift forks.

I've given that a go. I suspect something else may be broken as I did what boomer1025 suggested and added a touch of weld to the gear selector, filed flat and it was fitting OK in between the forks. Started her up, had reverse, had first, then dropped the revs down, selected second but nothing.. Tractor was like it was in another gear and just stalled out. Tried reverse, did the same thing. Sigh.
