If I hear someone say dynamo on my ford dexta.. I know they are talking about a genny.
If I hear them say dynamo on my small asian tractor or yard machine.. I think permanent magnet style generator with no field current control.

Some of those cheap dynamo systems make ac, have no comutator and rely on a regulator rectifier pack aft of the dynamo..
Thanks, it is good to know how the words are used. I ask because when you read a text in English you cannot always be sure where the author comes from. Dynamo, magneto or generator, often you need a context to get it right.
