1971 Ford 2000 diesel. Two questions:

1) I have about a 4" toe out. Was that way when I bought the tractor. I tried adjusting the drag links shorter but could only get so far. I'm wondering if I have the wrong LH drag link, it seems to measure longer than what Yesterday's Tractors advertises.

2) My PTO clutch doesn't work. Used to. I can only engage by turning the tractor off, or grinding it in at low RPM. I've tried adjusting the pedal, and some different tricks in case it was stuck. Anything else to check before splitting the tractor? And how much time should I budget for first time split? I generally figure I'm about 3x slower than an experienced, fast pace.

My "real" question is, I have things taken apart for replacing the oil seal on the steering shaft, should I go ahead and split the tractor? I got some things it'd be good to get done presently, and start a bigger repair job later, before brush-hogging season.

I have done the split twice on my Ford 1920 (replacement clutch failed at 5 hours).
With talented help (not me - I was the untalented old guy) we got it done in 9 hours.
Second time we got it done in about 7 hours. Both times we had to remove the loader first.
If you are going to try it alone, you might allow yourself 2 days (taking numerous breaks).
You really do need to have a helper though.

split isn't too bad, easier than accessing a car clutch, I can see how experience could get the split down to two hours

So...the lever link on one of the three clutch fingers is severely bent.
