Oil & Fuel Ford 2000 won't stay running

I'm new to the tractor world and really looking for some help. When I first received the tractor it'd only run with the choke all the way open. I pulled the carb and cleaned it up, sealed it with RGV type stuff out it back on.

I also spliced in an in line fuel filter with some rubber hose. Turned out that didn't work-after I cut up my fuel line

anyways I took the filter off and just put a fitting in between for the rubber hose to just be complete. Well now I'm getting fire, but it won't idle. Guessing I'm not getting fuel or something, but when I empty the bowl on the carb fuel comes out. I don't know the year of the tractor, only that it's a ford 2000 gasser 3 cylinder engine. Somebody help please!!

But I read through it and some of the comments. It seems he and I have a similar problem. But mine will not "run" at all. It fires, but I cannot get it to stay running without having the key bumped over to the crank position.

If it will run in the start position of the switch, but dies when the spring returns the switch to Run, see Rick B's post about the resistance wire between switch and coil. Older cars used a ballast resistor, newer a resistor wire. If that wire or ballast fails open, your coil only gets current in the start position, not in the run position. See SteveV's post in the linked thread.
