Well, a replacement, rebuilt carb from Valu-bilt or so is less than 1/2 that, and a rebuild kit woulda been around $20 or so....
There are different tranny & pto options, depending on if you have the old style or the new style. Would need to know what exactly you are looking at. Unfortunately when Ford switched from the 100 series of tractors to the 1000 series of tractors, they mostly changed paint..... Then a few years later they redesigned the tractors, but didn't change the numbering system. So.......
In a gas model, either the older 4 banger or newer 3 banger are good, very reliable engines.
If it were diesel, the newer 3 banger was designed to be a diesel so would be better.
Anything of this era other than the SoS tranny (Ford version of a powershift or automatic wehich works great when it works; becomes a money pit when it doesn't) or the 4-banger diesel engine (works fine, but it was designed as a gasoline block, not as strong as it should be for diesel compression ratios....) is a pretty reliable, well thought of machine. Will come down to how that one was cared for.
