I'm new to this so I'll do my best. I have 66 Ford 3000 diesel, light switch shorted while mowing, now electrical is not working at all, do get power to the starter solenoid spins when I short it. No dash lights, haven't found any burnt wires, checked fuse at dash is fine, also tried another starter switch, no difference. when it happened lights went out, engine kept running until I turned it off. Now nothing when I turn key on. Not sure what else to check, any suggestions welcome. Don't know of any other fuses.

The diesel doesn't need spark to run. Key is on only to run the instrument panel. SWAG: Since you checked the instrument panel for burnt wires and the fuse was ok, go to the ignition switch. Do you have 12v at the input? Move your voltmeter to the output that feeds the 12v distribution including lights and dash. Switch to ON. Do you have voltage on the output terminals? I am going to bet not and a new switch is in order? You said you tried a new starter switch but I don't know which switch you are referring to.

Thanks for responding, solved problem yesterday. I tried the ignition switch where the key goes, but didn't work. Yesterday got a new battery, changed regulator to another I had, polarized it before starting and everything came up normal. I'm still not sure but I think when my lights shorted it may have reversed polarity and thats why my generator light came on until I stopped the tractor. Then there wasn't enough voltage to even light the dash lights, making me think something was burned, disconnected? Also my tractor has a positive ground. But all is good and working now.
