Ford 3000 maintenance

Hi folks, I purchased my first tractor over the winter and used it several times already for bush hogging. Now that there are too many bees and snakes and wild critters running around the old farm I have the tractor home and want to do some maintenance. This is a 1967 Ford 3000 gas. I know very little of it's history, the hour meter quit around 8000 hours, but it cranks right up on the first try, needs only a few seconds of choke to get it going. The hydraulics lift a 6' heavy duty bush hog and hold it up just fine. I plan on doing a thorough maintenance job mostly because I just don't know what has been done to it and when. My questions are: with air and hydraulic filters, can they be cleaned or should they be replaced? Also, since I'm mostly new to tractors, if everything seems to be working fine, what are some things I should consider replacing, cleaning, inspecting etc? I don't make my living with this tractor so it doesn't have to be in the best possible shape but I do want to preserve it's value and have a nice running machine.

I purchased a parts manual and owners manual to help me out, the owners manual has several maintenance schedules but I'm trying to cram them all into one to establish a good baseline.

AFAIK.. that unit should have the oil bath air filter unless it was changed out to a dry element.

There should be a section in the manual showing you how to service the oil bath filter. If it's real horrible.. dunk the entire can in solvent and agitate.. etc.

On a new-to-you tractor.. tune up items like points, plugs, plug wires, distrib cap, rotor, condensor, are always good to check, as well as all fluids, including coolant. if it has PS.. check the fluid.. etc.
