ford 3000 power assist steering not working

I just bought a power assist kit for my ford 3000 with tractor running I can move the control valve on the cylinder and turn the wheels when I hook up the arm to the steering the valve will not move enough to engage the cylinder when I turn off the tractor and turn the steering wheel the valve moves no problem anybody have any idea what would cause this I am stumped. Thanks in advance for any help.

Show a picture of the steering. Might be the kind that has a centering adjustment.

Aftermarket made in Turkey for about $600? Did you put the recommended fluid in the reservoir and bleed the system.....bleed: Engine running, move the steering back and forth as many times as it takes to get it to work. Keep adding fluid to the reservoir to maintain the minimum level while doing so. I jacked the front tires off the ground when I bled mine so I could go full length in both directions. There is a little centering "tinkering" required to get the steering left and right arcs to match.

I assume you mean it won't before you added fluid.....aka immediately after reassembly.
