Hello All,
I do alot of reading on TBN, but haven't done much posting. Now I have a question for the tractor gods on here. I have a Ford 3000 that I had to have the 3pt hydraulics rebuilt and the PTO clutch replaced. The 3pt was hiccuping really bad and the PTO would not engage with out grinding. I had to cut the tractor off, engaged the PTO then crank the tractor back up with the PTO engaged. So, before the repair when the PTO was working properly, when I engaged it, it would start turning when I released the clutch just a little bit, and before the tractor started a forward or reverse motion. Now, since the repair when I release the clutch half way the tractor starts to move and the PTO doesn't start its rotation until I have released the clutch all the way. Is this the correct operation? I want to think not, but I need some direction as to where I need to go from here. Is this just and adjustment or do I need to carry it back to the gentleman that I had do the repair. Btw, the repairman is an older guy that retired from a Ford Tractor dealership so I assume he knows his stuff. Thanks in advance for you thoughts on this.
