Ford 3000 PTO Question and Tacho Drive

Hi There, Have just purchased a 1968 Ford 3000 as a do er' uppa,sadly she has been rather neglected, I thought it had a two stage clutch for the pto, but just grinds with clutch fully depressed. I have adjusted clutch,but none the better for it Code is C 10130, 8D18,B089240, as stamped on the bellhousing right hand side. I Have just thrown the Lucas genny and Vr out(Poked,not charging) and gone with internally regged style, Now I have to go with the camshaft driven tachometer? Does it spin the other way needing 600 series dash/tacho?? Would apprieciate any help,thanks

If the PTO shift collar grinds with the clutch fully depressed, transmission at rest and in gear, you DO have a two stage clutch. If the pedal freeplay is at or less than spec (1-1/2"), the three most likely causes are:
1. Worn transmission clutch disc altering internal clutch linkage tolerances.
2. Broken link or pin in the pressure plate assembly.
3. Stuck PTO clutch disc.


Listed pretty much in the order of likely probability.

Thanks Rick, I tried to free the clutch by connecting a big mower(too big for 47hp!) and spinning it up by starting on the starter motor(pto engaged) then depressing clutch and opening throttle right up,tried this a few times hoping it could break free.

Looks like its going to be a split job to fix

on the tach u do need the tach off of a 600 series to have it work with the camshaft driven tach drive

Thanks Whodat526, I had a feeling that would be the case, I think I have all the parts to do it, I guess I will have to convert the big old style oil filter to the later spin on type to make room for the tachometer drive assembly,one thing to another!
