Ford 3400 loader fluid change

I'm going to exchange the fluid in my 3400s loader. I would like to get as much fluid out as possible because I have water in the hydraulic fluid. Any tips or tricks to get the most fluid out?

I know there is a paper filter and a composite filter. Is one better than the other or should I replace what is there with the same?

My breather appears to be a pipe plug with a small hole drilled in it. Is that the correct part or is there a better breather?

I replaced my filter recently, and believe it was a paper one.

A pipe plug with a hole in it is NOT the correct breather!

I think Messick's will have the correct breather cap. It does not allow water in.

A 730 ‘should’ have the paper element. The composite filter is NLA. Raise the loader all the way, drain the reservoir, lower the loader without starting the tractor. That will drain the lift cylinders.
