Hi Guys! Found a 67(?) Ford 3400 w/FEL. gasser, PTO, 3pt, medium tires, 2 remotes, power steering - runs good. The guy wants $4000 for it, but might trade straight across for my
IH 460 w/FEL, WFE, 3pt, gasser. I know I'd be loosing about 9-10 HP, but I'm not concerned. I am finding it harder and harder to climb up on the 460 (bad knees, back, shoulders, arms). Any good, bad, ugly about these?
Thanks

Other than the obvious, the 3400 may or may not have "live" PTO via a two stage clutch. Verify that the PTO configuration fits your needs, and if it is indeed "live' it in fact works as designed. A complete double clutch assembly will spoil $4-600 depending on the source, plus labor and ancillaries. The industrial loader that is probably on it is heavy, but can be counterbalanced. Check out the front hyd pump driveline splines if it has this option. If your 460 is a Farmall, and you need a decent loader, the 3400 may make a great swap for you.
