FORD 340A STICKING CLUTCH

I sometimes think if the clutch is getting very worn and needing replaced then this sticking is more likely to happen. Maybe some metal to metal?

I could see that if i were using it...but it was great when i moved here and no signs of an issue till it sit here for a year. I went over to use it again 4months later and i had to bush hog for about 30mins before it releast..and now.

Well, the first requirement to have this problem occur is the sitting. Did it sit for long periods in OK when it was working good? Contributing factors would be a humid storage environment and a worn clutch plate. I guess it's more humid in TN than OK. Does the clutch have a lot of adjustment left or is it about needing to be replaced? I noticed my Ford tractor was more likely to stick after sitting when the clutch was shot with no adjustment left. Yes Sir it sit in oklahoma to, and yes it's much more humid here... i'd say i have half the adjustment left.. What a new clutch cost these days?

Funny thing, that! I must keep the clutch engaged on my BCS walk behind; otherwise, it will stick as well must be something universal in ag equipment. I had to take the clutch assembly out and put it in a vice to get it unstuck.

As often as not the culprit is leaking oil from a rear seal.
Oil leaks onto the disc and kind of glues it to the flywheel when it cools off.
If there was something metal to metal the tractor wouldn't even move. Or if it did you'd hear grinding in there.
I would split the tractor and replace the clutch if it looked at all worn and replace the rear main seal and the transmission input seal/s.
