Ford 3420 operated while parking brake engaged.

Hi, wife hired a guy to bush hog my pasture with my 3420 Ford without telling me. Guy proceeded to bush hog most of the pasture but stopped when tractor started smoking and hot oil came out the pressure release on top of the gear case.
The parking brake was engaged. I had just installed a new clutch myself and tractor was running very well. Could y’all please explain what damage was done to my tractor. Thank you.

Hopefully there was no damage other than the brake wear. I would just check the fluids and run for a while to make sure everything is working properly. Then I would have a nice talk with the wife thanking her for wanting to do something nice, but ask her to please don’t let anyone use my equipment without talking to me first. Good luck!

How much engaged? Both sides, one side? My 3910 won't move much when the parking brake is engaged with both pedals. It will stall even in first gear. The guy probably smoked the clutch and PTO clutches too. If the brakes were dragging, I'd be more concerned with the drums. The brake shoes don't come with much wear surface to begin with. It wouldn't take long to be metal on metal.

You're going to need to do a complete check of brakes, PTO and clutch. It wouldn't hurt to replace the transmission filter too. Cut the filter open and check for debris. That's what happens when you let a sack of rocks use your equipment.

Tell your wife the tractor needs to be replaced and she'll have to get a job.
