Hello all!

Just bought an old Ford tractor. Need help identifying it before I buy an operators manual.

Model#: CA213C
Production Code: 9K19B
Serial#: *C626222

My best guess is its a 1979, 3600. Seems like 6/2 transmission, but I feel like it should be 8/2......

All help is greatly appreciated!

C should be an 8spd.. IE.. a 4spd twin stick.

i'll admit to not having my chart in front of me. but that liast digit of the model id is normally 'trans type' and C is usually an 8spd twin stick.

someone like rickb or whodat or ultradog can confirm or correct me here. I'm at work away from my manuals.

WOW thanks for such a quick reply. I'll double check to find the gear all the way to the right. Her brakes arent working very well, and am going to take a closer look when I get a chance. Any thoughts on the model? Which manual would be the best for the brake job i'm intending to do?

Thanks again so much.

they are simple drum brakes.... check the star wheel for adjustment. either out of adjustment. shoes gone. or more rarely.. drums worn out.

even the lowly I&T manual will be fine.

heck... drum brakes. no manual needed!!! ;)

you will have more work taking tire and center off than 'doing' the brakes. :) unless something in there is ruined and has been farmerized

I don't know if the 3600 is bad about getting oil in the brakes like the N models. When my brakes get weak I take the wheels off and clean the pads and drums and give the adjuster a few clicks.

early 8n had 1 axle seal. late 8n+ had 2 axle seals.

many axle seal leaks on the early ones also had to do with hub issues. 55 saw a hub design change away from the axle nut of 8n / naa era.. etc.
