I have a Ford 3930 and the starter won't turn over. I replaced the battery. The old one was going dead but the new one is fully charged and the starter still won't turn over. The past weekend it would turn over and then other times it would just click when I turned the key. this was with the old battery. With the new battery it would not turn over at all.

Any ideas on what the issue is.

Try tapping the starter motor with a ball peen hammer. Could be sticking or on the way out.

Don't tap too hard, usually a "click" is a bad ground or the solenoid is going.

If you decide to remove the starter, good luck getting at the third bolt that holds it on. Miserable job, bloody knuckles.

We assume you've double checked both battery cables, where they attach must be clean. Some develop internal breaks that limit current flow. Try that before removing starter. AND, try jumping from new battery cable end at starter to small terminal there to be sure you don't have an ignition switch problem. In neutral if course.

Good advice. I did bloody my knuckles to find the starter was OK, the ignition switch was the culprit.

It was the starter. It had a loose wire that was grounding out.
