Backhoe Ford 4500 Backhoe ID

Hi guys, recently purchased a Ford 4500 TLB and having a bit of trouble identifying the backhoe. Forums and manuals state it would be a 753 or 755, but reading about the appearance of the 755 (e.g. distance the dipper and lift rams are apart) would indicate mine is not a 755. The pictures I can find of a 753 show sway cylinders, mine has a rotary swing motor? The only tag I can find on it is "19-454" on the back of the backhoe control console. I need to order some cylinder seals etc. but don't know what to ask for if I don't even know the model of the hoe!? Will try to link up some photos. Thanks.

For anyone following this post, TractorTech provided the following information via another question I asked:-

"You can look up the 19-454 on the online parts book and it shows you the sections relevant to that unit. Being that it is a side-shift backhoe, not very common in the U.S., it makes it a 752. I think that is a 10' hoe in the 755 series."

Loopman, 19-454 is the 'true' model number for the backhoe of the 755 series backhoe attachments (not to be confused with the 755/A/B tractor loader backhoe). And yes, it does have a swing motor on a side-shift frame, not a center pivot with swing cylinders.
You can use 19-454 in the online New Holland parts book to look up the parts specifically for your backhoe.
According to the book, both the crowd and lift cylinder use kit 309946. The illustration included is for the lift cylinder.

The parts list states (as you have said):-

#6 = Packing Kit (309946)

#11 Seal Kit (D4NN342C)

Would I be correct in thinking the packing kit includes the seal kit, that is, it looks like the seal kit is just for the rod end, whereas the packing kit is EVERY seal in the cylinder? Whilst I have the machine out of action I am assuming it would be the right thing to do to replace all seals in the cylinder (only the gland nut inner seals are leaking as far as I can tell).

Yes, the packing is included in the kit. Generally, you replace the piston packing at the same time since you have to take it off to remove the gland. The piston packing is probably worn or is dried up as well, but not always. It is just best to get the kit because the kit includes all parts necessary, as you said, including the rod bearing (fiber sleeve in gland) that you can't buy separately from Ford New Holland. The rod packing tends to need replacement because of dirt getting in and scratches to the rod surface. Make sure you inspect the rod and buff out any imperfections with fine emery cloth.
If you were to only get the parts for the gland, you would also need the 7700300 seal (item 14) and 9840590 oring/7701434 backup ring (item 9/10) which come up to about 2/3 of the price of the kit.

Okay, slight change of plans, quote was nearly $1000 for just the two stabilizer leg seal kits! I was anticipating (perhaps naively) something around $100 per cylinder! Might be false economy but I went with generic v-packs and only did the gland seals (didn't do the piston seals) - for the 8 rams (crowd, lift, 2 x stabilizer, 2 x loader lift, 2 x loader bucket) it still came to over $900 doing it the 'cheap' way. Anyway, all seems good, had the machine working a couple of hours and not a drop to be seen, very messy job (oil everywhere) but I learnt a lot and enjoyed it overall - that's what it's all about

PS Rods 'dressed' with a fine sharpening stone (oil stone) where needed and then polished with emery cloth as suggested.
