Ford 4500?? Backhoe mount pins seem loose. Can I tighten the fit? See pics.

The flow control or maybe control valve itself makes the main boom very jerky. The backhoe feels a little scary to me as a first time operator. I don't like the amount of play in the pins. Is it normal to have this amount of play?I see a bolt for tightening and removal... I'm going to tighten it, but would it be maybe a good idea to replace these? Anything else I can check for safety sake? I'm sure there's plenty of wear since its an old hoe saved from the scrapper, but it all still works. I like old iron, may as well give it the tlc it needs and run it.

To me it looks solid, but I'd like to add and change anything thats gonna make it safer to operate. This one didn't even have a lap belt. Going to add that first.

I normally just crank those down when they loosen up.

I would look for a manual, but I think like said above there are the clamps that need to be tightened down. Looks like you are starting to have some wear, but probably nothing worth trying to replace.
