Yeah fins are clean. I figure tstat working as once it gets to a certain point it will not go higher no matter how hard you work her. Again same temp idling for 30 min or working hard for a hour. So it definitely opens up once to a specific temp. Now just need to see what that temp is.

I'd still be suspicious of the tstat since you say it gets hot idling? Or a badly worn water pump? And did you blow out the fins on the radiator? I'm not sure you're done yet...

Reads to me as if it is a normally functioning cooling system with a gauge that's reading a tad high.

Rick i think your right. Its either gage reads high, higher temp tstat which might be ok. Or late open tstat. Once i test temp i should know
