Hello All,
New to the forum and to owning a tractor, from rural New South Wales Australia.
I purchased a Ford 5000 from a local farmer on a spur of the moment buy, it just looked "Old School Cool" in great condition and well looked after. I haven't any real use for it so it sits in the shed gathering cobwebs with a start up every few days. I have one problem and that it only starts occasionally with no apparent reason for starting one day to not starting the next. Each time I have done the start up I have followed the same procedure the next time without the tractor kicking over.
Unsure of the age, I haven't been able to ID the codes. All I can find are raised numbers and letters (none engraved)
Being a diesel I would assume it has some form of pre-heat/glow plug but as to how that is activated I have no clue. Other threads I have read have the key switch turning anti-clockwise but my key switch will only turn clockwise. Two red-lights come on (battery indicator and what looks like an oil droplet so assuming oil pressure???) Even without a preheat system after cranking for a bit I would think it would kick over anyhow.
It has the SOS with 2 reverse and 10 forward. Inline injectors.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
