Oil & Fuel Ford 5000

I'm having a fuel related issue , it's an early 60 ish Ford 5000 diesel , starts and idles great , will pick up 200 rpm at full throttle , doesn't change when linkage is moved from idle position till full throttle position

Check fuel flow from the tank. When was the last filter change? Once good fuel flow has been established from tank through filter if the symptoms persist, replace the transfer pump.

You don't think it could be injector pump ??

From memory the 5000 didn't have a transfer pump these were gravity fed from the overhead fuel tank. Could be something in the throttle mechanism in the injector pump but I do not have a clue how that works.

Many 5000's had a Minnemec inline IP with a lift pump attached. The lift pump is easily replaced and is subject to both diaphragm and check valve failures.

If its a Simms inline pump, lines come off the pump going up to the injectors in a straight line..
There is a side cover on the pump, remove it and work the control rack by hand.. its probably sticking..
You do know it takes oil?? Just regular engine oil.. fill on top, drain on bottom and full screw on the side..
I think you'll find its full of gunk..
The lift pump is bolted to the side of the injection pump.. about $40.00 anywhere online.
