.

Have you done it this way or seen it done this way?

My orignal plan manual. It is also what the New Holland mechanic and service manger was saying how they would was based on the 555B's service do it. Might explain their $7k estimate including the parts.

I work for a New Holland dealer. have seen several done this way over the last 20 years.

You are doing it the hard way. Remove the hood, support the axles and pull the rear wheels. Disconnect the frame from the axle housings. Use the stabilizers to raise the frame off the axle ( leave loader valve in 'float'). Crib the frame. Drain the rear axle. Disconnect the brake linkages. Remove the trumpet housings one at a time and service the brakes. Removing the hood keeps you from stuffing the rear edge of the hood through the windshield.

How about the subframe-to-front support bolts? Do the need to be loosened?

This was a step in the service manual for removing the rear axle. I assumed that it was to create enough freedom to raise the subframe enough to clear the trumpet housings. Not knowing any better, it would seem also necessary here to remove the trumpet housing using this method.

I'd think you might want to remove either the upper right and left or lower right and left and leave the other pair alone.
