Hopefuly, when I look under the hood of a new 6.7 Ford, I will see actualy be able to see the mighty Scorpion looking back at me, instead of the current rats nest of turbo plumbing, egr tubes , coolers, hoses, brackets, heat sheilding, and wiring harnesses the diameter of a fully grown anaconda.

..something about shutting down truck and SUV lines to build smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient vehicles ?

BIGGER engines in BIGGER trucks for going to the dump on saturday morning.
Same old song, then cry massive losses and plead for all sorts of "breaks".

You did read the article, right?

Scorpion fuel economy is expected to improve by 3 mpg or more compared to the current Power Stroke.

The launch of the 6.4 has been vastly better than the 6.0 when it first arrived. The mileage maybe improved with the new engine but now add the cost of urea tank and urea refills for new EPA rules and the cost per mile will be just as bad or worse.

Also, how much hp does the buyer need? 390 hp! 350hp is not enough? I would rather stay at 350 hp and get 6mph improvement with new engine.

Case-IH will be using urea also to meet emissions on their ag tractors in 2011. Will they also have to use DPFs like the trucks? Buy your tractor before then! My brother read, the cost for new tier IV tractors is estimated at $4-5K more for ag tractors and fuel efficiency will probably decrease.

You do know people other then homeowners buy these trucks right? Contractors, farmers, Tow truck operators, delivery companies..... there is a huge segment which uses these trucks for things other then going to the dump.

The "article" touts the 4 door loaded lux trux.
That is where the fat margins are, with paint and trim options costing many hundreds of dollars.
I don't think I saw in that "article" an image of a chassis cab ready for a work body to be fitted, or any other "Commercial" application.
The emphasis is on MORE POWER, later there is casual mention of improved fuel efficiency, but that is way after the "Big Sting" headline.

I noticed the article said "ford designed" and built in mexico. Any clues whose motor it really is?

After owning a 95 PowerStroke for 12 years :

the above statement is the reason I purchased an 07 5.9 dodge cummins. While shopping for a new truck I raised the hood of new 6.7 said holly ****, closed it, the salesman asked why I did not want to test drive it

.. I was a Ford mechanic for over 10 years, late 1970's - 1990 I had no desire to own that thing.. The whole DPF deal is what prompted me to buy a new truck in the first place...

That's what I was saying a year ago. I couldn't believe Ford was already scrapping a 3 yr old "clean sheet design" diesel. It will live on in the IH trucks, though. I can't imagine what Ford has spent on warranty work for the 6L, then the 6.4L reworking to fit under the Ford hood and now all the R&D for the Scorpion.
