well.. the 6000 is a bit of a red headed step child for ford. it used alot of parts that other fords didn't.
power wise, mostly, a 5000 would do just about everything a 6000 would do.. or if not.. i'd get a 7000. it came ONLY with the sos tranny.. they had some quirks.. mostly were worked out by 65.. but you still see some nagging issues especially if maintenance was not kept up. there was also a field service campaign to work on them.. etc.
they had a nitrogen charged accumulator at the 3pt, so even with engine off, you had some limited 3pt capabilities. this could be neat.. could be dangerous too.
If you want a bit of a rarity for a ford to fix up, especially for parades, a 6000 sure falls into that ticket. if you could find a good running one that drove on the cheap, then i wouldn't be afraid to step into one, know if it did have an issue, that it might be expensive yard art till I found parts to fix it.
Some times you see guys selling a complete runner and a spare parter or two as a package. not a bad deal if you can swing it.. etc.
any specifics you were looking to ask.. or just general musings?
if you just want a tractor to use and work and walk out, start up, and drive away etc.. I may not choose a ford 6000.. again.. as a tinker project, or limited use / play/ hobyy farm and parade stuff, and / or it's way cheap.. then sure.. neat project.
