My 12 volt Ford 800 was going along just fine, when it suddenly died. Thought I was out of gas. Nope. Hit the starter after filling it up, it cranks but nothing happens. Thus far I have:
1. Checked the ballast resistor. OK
2. It wasn't too long ago that I replaced wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, and plugs, so I decided to replace the points and plugs as a start. When I opened up the distributer, I noticed the thin copper connector from the coil to the point was broken. I figured, that was my problem, right there Vern, so I didn't replace the points and condenser yet.
3. I replaced the connection, put it back together. Engine cranks, nothing.
4. I held plug wires to plugs, cranked and no spark on any cylinder. Hmmm
5. I replaces the points and condenser. Cranked. Nothing, no spark. Sigh.
6. I tried the jumper from battery positive to coil positive and cranked. Nothing. Grrrr.
7. I pulled off the coil and found it was bad. OK
8. I replaced the coil, cranked and still no spark. Argh.
9. I tried jumpering to the coil again. No spark. ****. Time for a beer or two...

So, I'm flumexed at this point. Now I don't own an ammeter, so the tests my manual recommend aren't possible. If the ballast was bad, I wouldn't be getting much of anything. Jumpering the coil to the battery should work, but it doesn't. Therefore the voltage regulator and solenoid shouldn't be part of the problem. Anyone have any idea what's going on here? Needless to say, I'm quite frustrated.

Thanks.
