Fairly certain the needle is sticking but will just take the carb back apart later and polish everything up and check the float hinges to see if they are sticking. Raining here today so it'll have to wait for a bit,,done soaked as is lol..Hope u guys have a great day!

main needle should function somewhere between 1.5 and usually 2 turns at most. I've never had to set one at 3. 3 tells me it's having problems getting fuel thru a dirty carb.. or it's lean and restricted getting fuel.

Is that the main down stream you are talking about Sound? on the bottom of the carb..I am still learning what all the parts are called since this is the first tractor i have ever owned... I adjusted that screw at 3 on gthe recommendation of a guy on a site before finding this one.

Is that what controls the needle setting?

The screw on the bottom adjusts the main jet (which adjusts your fuel/air mixture). It could also be callled a needle.

The needle that we are talking about sticking is the one that the float opens and closes. Its purpose is to maintain a constant level of gas in the float boul from which the main jet is supplied. The float needle is adjusted by slightly bending the tang on the float that raises the needle.

Thanks Strum for clarifying, I believe the needle inside that the float controls is whats sticking,,due to work and weather i still havent had a chance to take the carn back apart and check everything out...Hope the weather and work will allow me to this week though...
