After that, recheck your timing. Also.. your advance moving freely?

Did you ever get the 8n running? The proceure is quite simple
and a little precise. If it run before you pulled the distributor;
it will run without messing with the points etc. get the distributor back in correctly, then fine tune it with points
adjustment and timing adjustment. It will run if everything is even close. Hope you got it running and fine tuned. REPLY

17 may be full advance timing at rated speed. Try setting #1 to fire at TDC. It should at least run there. If not swap the plug wires 180 degrees on the cap.
