I am working through some starting issues on my 8N. It is a side mount, and i have put new points (set to .025), and a new condenser on it. I am now thinking maybe something is wrong with the ignition switch, the actual on off switch. Mine has what looks like an aftermarket toggle (push in / pull out ) switch instead of the key. Occasionally when i turn it on, the points don't spark at all, after switching it on and off a few times, it works again. I am trying to find a NAPA part number for something that will work. Doesn't have to be a factory replacement, but something that fit the hole and has the right set up would be nice. ideas?

I would just buy a universal key switch. You can get them @ NAPA, tsc, probabally autozone/advanced, etc. They usually arent more than $10

You just described a simple headlight switch for the igniton. A key switch would be better..

I agree, i am hoping someone knows or can find a part number, preferably from NAPA.

you dont need a part #, just ask them for a universal 2-wire kew switch.

They may even be able to look a specific one up if you tell them "key switch" for an "8n".

That is what they do. That is why they have a hundred books/computer system with cross references. Let them do the work on finding a part #. You jsut tell them what you need.

Agreed, probably one of the most popular tractors to look for parts, the N series, by Ford. I saw the switches on a card in TSC on my last visit.
