Welcome to TBN.
First, you should take the time to fill out your location in your profile. Certain questions that come up are best answered if we have an Idea where you are from. You dont need to be specific, but some things are a reigonal thing if ya know what I mean.
As to the cylinders, do you know if it has the .090" thick cast sleeves or the .040" steel sleeves.
The .040" sleeves, if you have a stick welder, just drag the rod vertically in about 4 places. once it cools, it will shrink enough they will come right out. But it still takes a little driving. Assuming you plan on buying an overhaul kit that comes with new pistons and rings, just use one of the old pistons with the rings still on it. The rings will catch the sleeve and drive it out. And no need to worry about breaking the piston or rings if you are replacing them.
If you have the .090 sleeves, I would assume the welding method would work as well, but instead of a "drag" of the electrode across it, I suspect you will need to lay more of a bead down.
MAke sure you take pleanty of pics along the way too. And keep us updated. Do you have any pics now?? Do you know what year it is?? Side mount or front mount distributor?? Does it have the sherman??
We just got done rebuilding and restoring dad's 8n. His is a 1951 and has the sherman step-up and step-down. Gives it a 23-24mph road gear:confused2:
Here's a pic, and if you have any more specific questions, feel free to ask or shoot me a PM.
