Flail Mower Ford 907 Flail Mower

Have had a Ford 907 for 6 years now to mow accerage while wife trims in her ZTR mower. I have gotten Blades from R&R products in Arizona. Now have had bearing gone out on rotor looking to replace them all while apart. Seal Master Bearing is pretty pricy. Do any of you have part numbers for some less costly options on rotor bearing and cross shaft end bearing.

You need not worry all bearings are metric.
You can go to Kaman or NAPA auto parts and
compare prices for the same bearings if you want to.


Check with flailmaster for their prices for the flail mower rotor bearings and knives.
you should also replace the rear roller bearings as well as long as you are diving
into the carcass of the flail mower for major surgery.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would you know if standard 4 inch flanged bearing witha 1.375 bore would work. They are less than $20 where as locally the original style bearing around here at least is $75. Also on the side slicer blades do you know part #used. I'm realy not finding an option for the cross shaft bearig besides the orignal.

The flail mower rotors bearings are an open flange bearing and the castings for
mounting the flail mower rotor bearings and the drive shaft open bearing will be
expensive no matter where you buy them unfortunately. flailmaster has the
best price unless you have a Kaman Bearing office nearby.

You will have to call flailmaster or look through the flail mower threads for the
side slicer part number or simply call them for it as it is a Ford blade from
what I remember of it.

Thanks leonz. Here's a couple pics of the old brute. You can see the crack under the gearbox. Welding looks kinda scabby so I'm going to run some bolts through it in the spring. Thought I'd bolt a plate over the crack with 1/4-20 button heads which should allow clearance for the blades. The rear guard is missing and I may fabricate something simple if need be - is that the rear door you mentioned?

Just wondering if anyone else had seen similar damage?

If I had $2K burning a hole in my pocket I would have bought a used Alamo. I wanted a 6' centered flail cheap that was usable and had parts available. BTW Flail-Master has very little for the 907 but there are other sources including NH. Not looking to win any beauty contests just mow some weeds beside the road a couple times during the summer.

Most bearings can be had at local bearing stores if you have the sizes. I only needed two which I just ordered for the carrier (rear roller). $26 each x 2 delivered to my door. Did you check the flange bearings to see if they come out of the flange. Most rotate 90 degrees and will come out to replace just the bearing. Buying a standard flanged bearing with the right bore is fine but will the flange holes line up with the holes you have.

Found my flail bearings at surplus center web site less than $10 each. Makes me one happy flail mowing camper!

What bearings did you purchase? Went to site but two many choices. Will tear mine apart tomorrow before rain or heat. I am using a Befco five ft. finish mower where I need the 5 ft 907 flail.

Did a search for the numbers off of original bearing to get sizes then looked them up that way on surplus center site.
