Re: Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

AndyM . . . I love when you post! But I do have a question about that Yugo-Ambulance. Does it come with spare parts & a tool kit? Or at least a trailer to carry the parts that fall off?

As for the thread, I will say that I just told my General Manager to buy a Chevy Pick Up today. Only because the deals are so good. We have a service van with 200K miles on it, we could probably nurse it along for another year, but given the discounts available and given the high profit markups on pick up trucks, we're able to buy a nicely equipped full size extended cab pick up for less than we would pay for a fairly basic commercial van. As this is a truck used by one of my roaming repair guys, he doesn't need all the capacity of a van anyway, so we don't lose much utility trade off, but we do gain more comfort in the cab, which, in the long run, makes for happier people. And I did have my GM spec a trailer hitch for hauling tractors too /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

While I agree with the comments about WHY the European and Japanese cars DON'T have to offer these discounts, I will gladly take the discount that is offered!

I agree to some extent. I have seen some cars (some listed) pulling various things. Now is it to the extent of your F250, no. But on the flip side I do not haul 12K items with my F350 either. I got rid of my F350 Powerchoke and can perform 95% of the duties that I did before. Never mind 80% less $$$ in fuel, WAY better ride, less working on the auto (hence better reliability and quality) great car when single /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, and value stays up there. I was brought up on Fords since my old man had Fords when he patrolled the Berkshires etc. and he loved them. They are nice but you could not give me another F-series let alone there (International/Navstar) diesel. Between the poor design on the glow plugs and the complete sys, ball joints, bad tranny (E40D at the time) and forever leaking shocks, windshield water leaks, door wind noise….no way.

PLus no HIDS on the F-series!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm glad my Cummins can't talk. If it could, I can just hear it say "Oh gowd! Here he comes again. Maybe he lost his keys this time. I really don't want to pull his dang 14k trailer at 80 mph everytime he uses me! Besides, it really hurts to spin all 4 rear tires whenever a Mustang comes up next to me at a stop light! Can I puke a tranny again or something?!" /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
