Price Check Ford employee pricing

Get the red tractor. Then buy some blue paint from your nearby dealer and tell them what it's for and why. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just wonder how the management would respond if you brought in a firm written price from the 40 minute away dealer and told them to come with $100 of it or lose the sale. A small profit feeds more people than no sale and a risk of losing future business, especially to a long term customer. They are counting on the fact that many tractor buyers are traditionalists and tend to be brand and dealer loyal beyond reason. They think you won't go elsewhere. When you bring in the papers from store "B" bring your checkbook. If they balk about giving you a decent price, get the thing out and start writing the check to the other store in front of them. You have nothing to lose except a void check.

Just remember, there is no way they will sell you anything at a loss. The job of the sales guy, no matter how friendly and personal he may be, is to get you to part with as much money as possible while giving you as little as possible in return. i.e. to maximize the store's profit. He may be your friend for 40 years, but he still wants as much of your money as he can convince you to give him. If he can keep you smiling all the while he's deflating your checking account, all the better.

There is a slight difference with this dealership. They salesman is a good friend and he is salary. It doesn't make a difference if he makes $5k or $1k profit on my sale. I know they need to make money and they know I respect that. The management is the one who tells them the markup percentage now and took away the salesmans rights to deal.

I will go talk to them tomorrow as my front weights are supposed to be in by then and see what they say. There is no need for me to write a check out in front of them as they know I will go elsewhere if I find a good deal. They also know they have all my other business but hopefully they will smarten up and just give me the A plan price on this tractor and move a tractor out.

Well, the other dealer did get his price down to within $1k of the other dealers. I told him what the other price was and he couldn't believe it so he is going to talk to the manager and see what they can do.

The only thing he can figure is they don't charge anywhere near what they do for setup. I do know the local dealer charges a little more for setup to cover warranty work as NH does not cover all the cost (they figure something will take 1 hour to replace when in fact it will take 2 hours). I can not complain about the service from this dealer either as they have repaired equipment for me that was out of warranty because they knew it was a design problem.

Thats all kinda odd. TC tractors come all but assembled from the factory. We flat rate our setup times at 2 hours for a tractor and loader.

I don't know then. I will see what type of price they come back with. If they tell me to buy it from the other dealer I will. It is their call though.

I did tell them they were $1k more for the NH 163 tedder then the other dealer was also so hopefully they will start to figure their prices better.

Robert:

I can't speak for prime movers but I always "A" plan my NH haying implements. I've bought them all from J&R Tractor, LLC., in Monroe, Michigan and J&R always shows me the factory delivery/destination invoice and charges exactly $500.00 above that. Like Neil said, they do get a percentage kickback in addition on an "A" plan deal. Be sure to have your employee or relative's PIN number and a copy of their Employee Identification Card to give to the dealer.

I like "A" plan because it eliminates pricing differences between dealers and to that end, the price difference between the 2 dealers isn't right, something stinks in Denmark so to speak.

Interestingly enough, I priced a TN90 on "A" plan against a JD and the M9 and the M9 was almost 2.5K less than the NH. The JD, well, we won't go there. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif That's fine anyway. Green is the color of mold and I don't like blue snub nosed tractors.....gosh, I really said that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am going to see what happens and talk to the manager of the dealer and see why they are so much more expensive if they won't drop their price. It doesn't make any sense unless they are hurting and are trying to make up every dollar in just a few sales. They did just build a new building to store inventory in so I would think they are doing ok but who knows. There is one good thing about where I am, I have a lot of dealers to choose from in a 50 mile radius and that includes 4-5 NH dealers, a ton of JD and a few Case-IH dealers and one Massey dealer that I know of. But I am partial to blue tractors for the main reason that this dealer I am having trouble with new prices is a great dealer everywhere else. They have outstanding service and a great parts department and they are only 2 miles away. The other dealers are all at least 20 miles away and I have very limited experience with a couples parts and service departments.

They do have me in a bind but if push comes to shove I will just buy a Grasshopper and forget about TZ.
