FORD F150 or F250

Last fall I down sized from the F 250 with V10 gas to a F 150 with 3.5 eco boost. I have no doubt my 250 would haul a load of say 2000 pounds much better in the bed than the 150 would. At same time only reason I did that was had the 250 and drove it on vacation to bring back river rocks. I still pull my 5 ton excavator but only pull it about 1 1/2 miles and some of that is off road. No issue, including the stopping. Yep my trailer has brakes that work. I was told the 150 and 250 have the same frame, yes different springs and no doubt rear axle. No idea if brakes are same or larger.

The 150 must be put together just right to get that 13,000 tow rating. Can not think of why the 250 would be any harder to park or drive in town than a 150 of the same size. The cab and beds are the same size if not mistaken. Have a neighbor, a retired over the road trucker and another friend who was also an over the road trucker. They both have the same color (electric blue think it is called) with the can that has the fold down rear seat (not the crew cab) and the 2.7 V6. My neighbor pulls about a 26 foot long camper and he brags how well it pulls it and both brag the on the road mileage it gets.

For the ride and mileage the 150 beats the 250 I had hands down. Check the weight of the Ford 5000 (if the rear tires are loaded don't miss that) with trailer and any implement you would have on it and the camper and let the numbers tell the tail. Do agree, the upper end trim packages on the 250 and 350 may give an pleasing ride. Also if it matters not only is it the purchase price difference which you said did not matter but the state tax and insurance will be higher on the 250.

Those new gas motors have some power, but the 150 setup is a joke compared to 250/350. I plow, and you can't do that with a 1/2 ton. Pulling is different, but if you want a durable setup that will last a long time, can't go wrong with the 6.7 diesel on a 250/350. Mine is 10 years old, 250,000 miles and I'm getting ready to put a flat bed on it for the next decade/250,000 miles. And I don't treat it nice either.

Considering a new truck. I do not pull my travel trailer or tractor (Ford 5000) very often. I am not interested in purchasing diesel power.
The new 4WD F150 Eco boost V6 tow rating is 13,200lbs. 4WD F250 gas powered is rated at 15,000lbs.
4WD F-250 operating & maintenance expense is more and getting in and out of parking spaces in town may be more difficult, (the difference in purchase price is not an issue).
I am asking for experience/thoughts out there from anyone that may have been thru this scenario when buying a new Ford, what did you buy and are you happy. Thanks.
Good example is my dad. He has a half ton 4x4 that he goes and gets ice cream in. Has an old 1 ton if he has anything serious to do. I drive a 3/4 ton. After pinching holes in the seat too many times, I decided on 3/4. I love dual one tons but I don't haul serious things as often anymore. Had to leave my last one in North Canada on the way back from Alaska and have not replaced it. I loved that truck. Was a 75 highboy 4x4 and a 33' horse trailer, welding machine and all, had to leave it. 650 miles to the nearest town. Somebody broke in and stole most of our things in Alaska. So I told the fella with me I ain't staying around these bears with no gun.

I have a 19 150 that has the 3.5 EB..It tows pretty well for a light duty truck, but I would certainly not hang a plow on the front of it. ..I also had a 17 F350 Platinum with the 6.7 diesel. Really nice truck ..I just traded for a 2021 Limited F450 dual diesel. I suspect this will be the last big truck I buy.

Ford says you can plow with an F150. They have a snowplow package for them. At least they did through the 2020 model year, not sure about the new ones. Would I use one as a plow truck? I would if it was just a few driveways but not for serious work.

It used to be that they would not ok plowing with a EcoBoost as they had electric power steering which used enough power that they said a plow could cause the battery to be drawn flat.
