Does anyone have a online site where I can order parts like shackles, rubber inserts that go in the end of the springs etc for a older (93) Ford F250 with a diesel? My 170K plus truck is about 1/2" from sitting on the rubber stops.

After much debate, I have decided to keep my old F250 with a new transmission. It's anemic, it has other issues, but in the end, I use it less, it can hold tons (literally) of stuff like concrete and would really rather get a newer or new car. Thanks, RaT...

I've had good luck ordering parts from LMC Truck

Order a catalog for your particular Ford model. Many of the parts are true OEM. I've been real impressed with the availability, parts and pricing for my 89 chevy.

I think you are going to need more than a set of shackles and bushings. Do you have the negatively arched springs up front? 4x4? About the only thing that really works is a new set of springs. You can try to have them re-arched but it doesn't usually take. Some people have tried an add-a-leaf but it usually adds too much and affects the camber. I've added air bags to my front end and it helps but it also affects the camber (I had the camber re-set to compensate for the bags at my last alignment). The air bags cost about as much as new springs and they are easier to install.

I've replaced the bushings on my 85 F250 diesel on all my springs and shackles and front axle pivot and it's not a fun job. Getting the old rubber bushings out is a pain. I put in newer, polyurethane bushings which should last a lot longer.

Go to the beer store. Buy a 12 pack. Call RobertN in Shingle Springs, Ca to come help, drink the 12 pack and work on the springs.Take the springs out. Run them down to Sacramento Spring Works. Have them rearch them and install new bushings. Get new U-bolts while you're at it. Have them add an extra leaf. Bolt it all back together, and go have the front-end aligned. Prepare to do it again in two years.

Other option is to rearch the springs, get new bushings. Find a Dana-60 out of another truck. Tear your front end out, and put in the straight axle.

The Ford IFS os the '80's to early 90's with leaf springs is a terrible design. If it aint saggin now, it will be soon... Rides and handles nice, but they sag.

Robert, I was hoping you would chime in as I knew this is what you did. I decided to keep my heap. It is like an old lady but it still is not wearing tires funny and quite frankly, it still carries 3000lbs in the bed like its not there. 4000 and its there but I can stop it with no extra effort, at 5500lbs, I worry that my springs, axle or something else will break and try to avoid it. My tires are rated at over 3500lbs each, it is because of things like this that make the desire to own a Toyota Tacoma or Tundra less desireable. I talked to Larry at Sacramento Spring. I am interested in aftermarket neoprene bushings and someone here pointed me there. Larry can rebush with stock rubber, but I figure if I go through the trouble, I might as well see if I can get neoprene. They will rearch via "peening" for $85, not a bad deal, great folks and full of good advice. I know the straight axle would be best, but I won't be using this truck a ton and desire to cut cost. I appreciate all the input and will look at each site suggested.
