Ford Raptor- anybody have one?

I was considering this as my next pickup. Are they that much better? Horrible mpg? No trailering over 9k and not for long distances. Are they a pain to park with the wider stance?
I am sure there are a lot of other forums that have covered this, but I like the opinions of TBN members...

I looked at them a few years ago but from what I remember it had a low tow rating. Its not made for towing. I think it was in the 6,000# range so I am not thinking its the right fit for what you want. Look at a SuperCrew Eco Boost. My dad has one with 3.73 gears and the 7,700# GVWR and its a beast.

Its not the power, its the suspension on the Raptor. Its not suited for heavy towing. I am almost 100% sure the one I looked at was a 6.2L 4x4 4.10 gears and the max tow rating was 6,000#.

I was really sure that was what I wanted to replace my Avalanche. Test drove it and now.. I am very happy with My Dodge Longhorn. It looked great, but the ride was just not comfortable if you are traveling any distances and I doubt it passes by many gas stations.

I did some more checking and the raptor I looked at was a 2011, I have the guide here on my desk. I looked at Fords Web Site and the 2012 is the same rating. Its tow rating is what I said, 6,000# while the tow rating of a SuperCrew Eco properly equipped was in the 11,100# range for a 4x4 and 11,300# for 2 wheel drive version.

You really take a hit with the Raptor Trim Package. Nice truck, just not made to tow. Reminds me of my F-150 Lightning I had about 10 years ago. Would smoke a Camaro any day of the week but was not a good match with my 5,500# boat behind it.

Has any one watched the show "Fast and Loud"? I'm pretty sure they are going and picking up old cars with a crew cab Raptor. It's debadged for the most part except for the SVT logo on the door. I thought it was pretty crazy to yank around heavy cars with a Raptor!

I have watched it but my guess is most of them cars and a the trailer are just right at the 6K mark. Many are stripped down and some have no motors. Contrary to popular belief new cars are much heavier than old cars, and Safer. Look at the curb weight of some popular models from the 60's like a Impalla or F Series and todays counterparts.

I will probably go with the eco boost in the 150. However, from fear of diesel withdrawals, I may consider the F-250 with the 6.7.

Correct me if I am wrong here but the Raptor seems to be made to do one thing which is go off road fast. The suspension and width seem to be the major differences. Suspension is boat loads of travel with special shocks and width is to acomidate the big tires. This remindes me of the Lightening which was not much of a truck but looks like a truck and is quick. Simply made to go fast. Yes I have read a great deal about the Raptor and unless you spend your life off road there seem to be better models.
