I think that's where the fuel return line from the injectors should connect to: Yes, that is correct.

And I think there should be a clear fuel resistant tube here which will act as a fuel level gauge: Yes, that is correct provided you do not have any fuel gauge on the dash. My 1700 is the same. I used clear polyethylene line. On mine is on the side.

Wow, thank you all for your help ~ my question has been answered !! My neighbor practically gave me this Ford1000 ~ he bought it from someone but many pieces were missing ~ so I am attempting to get er running again. Thanks again to you all for your help

They are really well built machines and a bit of TLC and they keep on going.
