Ford's Profit on an Expedition

Not really. Ford took a loan (along with Nissan and Telsa) which they are repaying and will be paid in full in 2022. GM and their financial arm received over 68 billion in bailout money and the taxpayer lost 13.7 billion dollars. We the people lost 10.2 billion dollars bailing out out Chrysler.
I guess it's all in how you look at it...

GM paid the money back, much of it with stocks. Obummer sold the stock cheap, so we lost. That's on obummer, not GM... It's just one of the many ways obummer screwed us!!

Ford took money by way of a LOW interest loan, that they are still paying back. THAT money could have been used for a better use than, baling Ford out... and it's our loss too...

GM needed money, Ford needed money, "borrowing" because you NEED it = bailout!

You made a mistake, but I fixed it for you. We also bailed out Chrysler back in 1979.
(I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out who would borrow money when they don't need it.)

Basically they all took our money because they don't manage money the way we have to..

No, they manage it the way that the government does. :(

As I recall, Ford took the money and used it to design the ecoboost engine and do other fuel improvement changes. That is what the money was intended for, a way to underwrite the automaker's improving the gas mileage of their vehicles.

I own an eco boost in my SHO.. I would say it was money well loaned. They did a fine job with the 3.5 SHO twin turbo eco boost and the other versions have been very reliable as well.

I don’t know what GM or Chrysler did with all the money they took but they probably wouldn’t be around if we didn’t help them and would not be a good thing.

I do believe if they managed money the way they should have they wouldn’t have needed a bailout.

From what I read, Ford needed the money to buy tooling... Who knows what the real truth is with all of this?

I agree, they all handle money like the Gov. does, then hold their hand out!!

If you truly want to educate yourself, quit listening to all the armchair quarterbacks and buy a copy of the book "American Icon" by Bryce Hoffman. An excellent read that provides great insight into the domestic auto industry (not just Ford), especially during the post market crash of '08.
