It was factory paint soundguy it was the US model made in england.I seen a few pic's on the internet close to dad's.I would have to look them up.It was the period before they changed to the new square style hood in blue also . It said ford 5000 on the side of the bonit and was factory original. It looked like the 4000 grey hood and blue tractor .With this paint patern it looked tough. The front wheel weight's style looked like a 84 corvete year's before there time if i can find a pick i will post it.The rear fender, hood, fuel tank, front that hold's the radiator was all grey.

For some reason I was thinking you said red/grey not blue grey.

Sorry my fault i guess i didn't say that the tractor frame was painted blue. There were only a few with this paint they made them this color only two or three year's from what we found out. There is some wild option's on these old major's did you see the one with two tractor's coupled together to make one it look's like the first one would flip ontop of you. There are a couple that look's like the first monster truck's the first ford bigfoot lol. I still like the all blue though it is correct for the powermajor some with red wheel's some with white. It seem's ford/fordson were not stuck on one color patern those three year's or so.

I know in April of 1962 they went introduced the Super Major with a Minimec fuel injection pump. I am not sure if that is when the HP jumped from 55 - 67 engine HP. I would love to have a Super Major or a Ford 5000. The differental lock, disc brakes and position control for the three point would be nice. The Super Major from Oct 1960 until April of 1962 is basically the same HP and tractor that I have expect for my "wish list" items. ;)

My Fordson actually has white wheels and is empire blue. Hopefully she will be on color blue by the end of the summer. :D I have not stripped the wheels to see if there is orange below the white. I was told that all Fordsons from the factory had the wheels painted orange but I not sure if that was correct for the ones there were going the U.S.

Fullpull,

The fordson that you are referring to is a Fordson Doe. They were made by a company in england owned by Ernest Doe. They basically took two Fordsons and mated them together to create one tractor.

Here is a picture of a few:

One recently sold in England for 69000 pounds plus VAT tax. They used Fordson Majors all the way up to the Ford 5000 / Super Major.

A Fordson Does is number one on my wish list of tractors.

Here's a picture of my FMD. I sold it last summer I kind of miss it. I bought two other tractors so it had to go. I don't miss the non-power steering and no live hyd. or PTO. I do miss the sound of the Simms inj. pump coupling rattle. It was heavy and would pull about anything I hooked it to. I worked it for 14 yrs. Never had any major problems.
