Forget bagging, go muching

Beacuse I mow commercially and some of the customers insist on the clippings being hauled off. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

No, those instructions work for the commerical and older 48'' and normal 54'' Deere mowers. The 42'' EDGE mower does not have rotatable gauge wheels on it. All of the gauge wheels will rotate into a service position so it can be slid out from underneath the tractor. You have to rotate the wheel by first pulling the spring pin or pulling out the pin and hairpin then you will see a hole in the opposite way to rotate the wheel. I have seen 48'' decks with round supports for the gauge wheels and flat bar type which you have so then you are right about no service position for you. I have the round type at home and that is what some come with. If your has the flat bar type then you just have to slide the mower on the wheels. My 48'' decks are from 1994 and 1996 and they have the turnable wheels for service.

Trouble,

Was your cutting hight dial set to 0 or the lowest setting when you lowered the deck?

Yellow,
Yes, just as the manual tells to do. FWIW, it's the 54C deck. and it juuust barely fits out from between the wheels trying to slide it sideways. I 'reclaimed' about 1/4 acre the other day which was overgrown with some sort of swamp grass type plants. Really really thick tall grass near near a little pond on my land and though it was tough going and I sure shouldn't have done it with the muching setup, it went better than I could have hoped. The mice and frogs aren't happy but the crows are out having a field day today /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
