Just attach a couple of feet of vertical pole to the pallet attachment. Something you can see from the seat. A bit of old fishing rod would do the trick. As long as the rod is vertical then the pallet is level.

Maybe you are over-concerned about this. I've unloaded plenty of stuff and its not hard to keep things reasonably level.

I've always found the hardest thing is to get the forks under a pallet on rough ground.

The geometry of a tractor loader is not conducive to lifting and lowering level as you have to work the curl/dump along with lift/lower. Skid Steers seem much better at this, but they lift in a very different manner. There are variations on that, of course.

But if your main task for the machine is unloading pallets, then I would argue that a tractor is not the best tool for the job. You would be better off with a SS that has level-lifting geometry or finding a smaller used forklift. My 2 cents...

the main thing I want is for the forks to be level at tractor trailer floor/bed level, 1, so I don't damage the product by poking up through the pallet and scratching or piercing it, and 2, not to stab down through the pallet and damaging the floor/bed of the truck, I have seen this done both ways with a "Real" forklift and the affected party was not happy.
