Forklift Hydraulic Question

A real forklift will drop pretty dang fast. It doesn't break the sound barrier, but if you push the lever all the way it drops fast. I don't know how the valve works. You can just barely push it and drop at a snails rate or push more and drop faster. A real forklift cylinder doesn't have as much oil volume as you would think because most forklifts have telescoping cylinders.

it's still oil flow vs orifice.

you just barely crack the spool, and the oil hase to squeeze thru a pinhole to move = slow.

Show picture and explain about the flow valve power port and plug the return.

If you put fluid into the cyl, it has to flow out of the cyl.

Let me clarify when I said "PLUG THE RETURN". The flow valve return is plugged with a QC but prior to that has a T connected to the tank return. Sorry for the confusion.

That valve should limit the speed of operation, as the excess flow goes to tank.

Yep, the RDRS150-16 is the one.

Did that valve come with the forklift or did someone add the valve to limit the speed of the cyl?

A needle valve would work better.

This valve would provide full flow in both directions. Just adjust the valve for the speed of operation.

1/4 NPT 5 GPM PRINCE WNV-400 NEEDLE VALVE

This valve will allow full flow in one direction and restricted flow in reverse.

No J.J., the valve was previously installed on the tractor for other purposes. I just wanted to make sure I could use it to test the forklift. I will probably fine tune it with a needle valve for the finish product.
