Andy,
Real nice looking homestead you have there. I love the farmers porch and the barn is awesome.

My reason the forks are on the front is to get the lift to break apart truck stacked log piles and have the ability to stack'em back up again. The lift weight capacity on the 3PH is roughly twice that of the FEL. Finally, working photo attached. SteveV

About half way through the pile, the tractor wasn't square to the pile, and that log on the bottom was still under a couple of others, this is the result....

And this is how it was fixed. Shorter by 6", loading a single fork doesn't seem as critical. Chop saw attached. SteveV

My idea of a use for your setup is to create a manlift platform. Be nice to have a mobile, hyd operated, scaffold.

Re: Hyd scaffold, mobile?

Like mine?
It fits my base frame / material handling tine attachment, I built as a bucket alternative for wood handling, brush work, etc.
The "Personnell Lift" as we call it fits on the base frame tines (see the short tube sections down in front?) and it has two bolts up higher and in the back. Its 4 feet wide, by 3 feet. Has traction planking bolted inside. The rail is 10" above my waistline when I 'm standing in there. We built it for tree trimming, apple picking, garage painting, pole shed building. When fully raised on the 410 loader, I can now reach 15 feet above the ground (the JD 4100 tractor only lifts 6 feet to begin with). I just finished painting it so this shot is inside the shop, not out in the sun, again I am sorry about the lack of quality of these digital pictures.

Steve,
The local junk yard has several sets of forklift forks. With your fabrication talent and some real forks you might not have to fix bent forks as often. Have you seen what that guy over in the New Holland forum is doing with fork lift forks on his FEL? Digging out stumps. Big huge monsters. Amazing.

Your real fork suggestion is a good one. WR long has dedicated forks showing on S Carver's site. The load capacity on these suggests they might be a bit too big for my machine. I like the forks installed without the bucket involved to shorten the length since load capacity is a factor on the 2400. A set of real forks should be coming my way shortly, and the design is now being influenced by the four tine and hyd thumb posting even though it's painted green (jgerken, combo base frame). I like the idea of quick-tach. Having worked logs with the forks, I never dreamed a compact would have such capability moving tree sized logs. Counter weight is a must.SteveV /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Hyd scaffold, mobile?

That tears it --- I gotta go to school and learn to weld - you guys with all that talent just rip me up -- that is a verry nice lift and yep - I'm jealous. Don't know what I'll end up with - but you can bet it won't be anything that nice. Good Job.
