Forwarding Lighting Kit for 4600?

   / Forwarding Lighting Kit for 4600? #11
I've got the original a set of (rectangular) work lights on my 4310, both facing in the rear direction. I had been thinking about purchasing the brush guards from JD, allowing me to remount one of these in the forward direction. Does anyone know if it's possible to simply mount these on the brush guard (e.g., outboard of the flashers) and simply flip them between forward and reverse as needed? Alternate suggestions?

I wish they had ran them inside the rops,,, wire is cheap, and protecting it would make it last much longer I'm sure.

If you look close, the wireing isn't done nicely at all as far as astetics go.

I received my ROPS Brush Kit, forward lights, and extra rear light today. It looks like the ROPS Brush Kit is intended to work with the 4x10 series vs. the 4x00 series units. Is this true and has anyone seen brush kits for the 4x00 series? Or should I just try to retrofit the 4x10 series brush guard on anyway?

The dealer didn't know the difference - so I guess I'm going to have to figure it out myself or return the stuff. I'd prefer not to, as I really want the extra lights.

Thanks for your help.

Do you have a picture? You must be the first one here to have that kit.

I ordered my 4410 with a single, rear-facing worklight mounted on the inboard side of the rops on the left side of the machine. There is a hole there that the wires run through. The wires continue down inside the rops and plug in to the black & purple plugs at the other end. Last week I added two forward-facing worklights using only the parts that came in the kit from Deere. It's as simple as this: Unbolt the rear light unit from the rops, slide the brush guard/worklight bracket between the light unit and the rops, put the bolts back in. During that process you must also insert the bolts that will hold the worklights from inside the bracket pointing up. The limited space between the flasher and the bracket will hold the bolt in place. Don't plan to install the bolt from above with the nut between the flasher and bracket, as in the instructions. It will not fit! Next, place the worklights on the up-facing bolts and install the nuts. I aimed my lights horizontal and slightly outward. The last thing to do is to run the black & purple wires down through the rops. I taped mine together with electrical tape and a short piece (3") of baling wire at the leading end. It will take some patience to snake the wires through the hole at the bottom end of the rops but you can do it if you're patient. There is no need to remove the wheels. Once you're through, just plug the ends in to the plugs that Deere has already installed for you. If you've already got a rear worklight installed, as I did, you will have to tap in to one side with the clips included in the kit. If not, just plug in. The only addition I made to the kit was wire wrap on the exposed wires going from the lights in to the rops, cinched down with wire ties, and a few more wire ties to hold the wire wrap to the tractor here and there. I'll try to get some pictures today to post later on. It's an easy project if you have the patience. I don't know what I would have done without those lights this week. Monday night I was out plowing a yard for our cattle to get from the run'in to the water trough and ended up with 10' high piles of snow all aroung after clearing a 30x30 area! We've had over 40" of snow this week on Cape Cod. Needless to say, my neighbors love me now! So far I have a cake, a watercolor painting of me on my tractor from an art teacher, a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black and a bottle of Drambouie fore my efforts!

Well - now I'm really confused.

The configurator has different pictures and descriptions for the forward lights/brush guards/rear light when you compare between the 4x10 and 4x20 series tractors. Apparently the only difference is the part number for the lights - since the brush guard is the same part # (but different picture for the two models). So I'm going to have the dealer contact Deere and specify that this is for the 4x00 model (matching the 4x10 series) - and see if they can be sure to get me the right lights and right bracket.

[basically - since I don't have pictures, the lights for the 4x10/4x00 series are rectangular while the lights for the 4x20 are round/oval.. The brackets are also bigger on the 4x20's since the warning/turning lights are not contained in one light package. If you want to see some pictures you can go to the configurator site though as they are there]

It seems odd that Deere just doesn't have different part #'s for both the lights AND the brush guard.... that way it wouldn't be so confusing. It would also be nice if they would give you a matrix showing what accessories retrofit on the 4x00 models so you don't have to guess your way through things.

Any Deere dealers or workerbees who can comment?

Once I'm in my office today, I will post the part #s for both the worklight package and the brush guards/brackets package. They are two seperate packages. My parts man at R. F. Morse in Wareham, MA had no problem whatsoever writing the order for me. Everything was drop-shipped to my door within a week. He even got for me the armrest package when the tractor was new last summer after the salesman said there was no such thing.

Thanks, Dave. We're in the process of re-doing the order now to get the right set of lights and brush guards. Apparently the brush guards have the same part #'s for the 4x00/4x10 series as they do for the 4x20 series in the books and the on-line configurator. You'd think Deere would specify a separate part # for everything so it would make getting new parts (or new accessories) easier....

Does anyone know of a matrix that shows the accessories and part #'s as they cross-reference through the 4x00, 4x10, and 4x20 models? The rapid changes in the platforms has the dealers all confused now.

Thanks for your help!

Ok. We finally got the right parts ordered (thanks to the service manager at the Northfield JD dealership) and they have arrived. Here is what the part numbers are:
- LVB25016 - Warning Light Guard (4x00 series - MIM 880721)
- LVB25023 - Forward Light Kit (4x00 series)
- LV910502 - Rear Work Light Kit (4x00 series - MIM 880726)

The Warning Light Guard fits over the single, integrated turning/warning light configuration on the 4600 and the Front/Rear lights are rectangular (instead of round like they are for 4x30 series). It took an hour on the phone with JD for the service manager to get the right part #'s as JDParts (and the catalog) didn't have them.

I'm going to wire the new lights in this weekend (given the weather permits) and maybe I'll get to post some pictures. In the meantime I'd suggest that anyone who is buying accessories for the 4x00 series should double check to insure the parts, etc., are correct. According to the service manager, they've changed things so many times that JDParts and the catalogs just arn't correct or up-to-date...
