On my tractor I have the shuttle shift option. I took the 1-4 gear shift lever off and removed the top cover of the shift box (located on the right side of the transmission and also has the High/Low range lever too) and I was it half full of stinking water. I assume the water got in over time because the rubber boot has a small tear on it. I removed and cleaned everything out. It doesn't say in the service manual or I couldn't find if this box should be oil filled so I filled it 3/4 full with gear oil. Shifted alright before and it shifts smoother now.

You might find that you have overfilled it - I did on my Jinma. Leaks a small amount of oil around the shifter boot is all - rustproofing on the go!

Hi jim,

I filled it so it just covers the socket that the ball end of the shift lever inserts into.
