Dealer Foton dealers

Hello, I'm Trying to locate foton dealers in my area. Pennyslvania, maryland, Ohio, west virginia, and Virginia. Any help on locating them would be appreciated.


Also i have a question. Being that i have heard most of these tractors come with a Certificate of origin, how do banks usually loan for these? Do you have to have a title?

those guys are 3 miles away from us. They've been around for just a few months. Can't say I've ever heard a word from any customers good, bad, or even shopping.

Wasn't Northern Tools a Foton seller one time? I think they currently offer Nortrac Units.

Thanks I knew about O&H i was just trying to see if i could locate anymore of them in the distant area.

I just got on northerns website and they have nortrac's, and i don't see any of them with a cab option.

You're right. I pass by there often and can't recall seeing anyone there. I know very little about the Fotons. My impression is they are fairly utilitarian and I don't think offer hydro trannys. They could be a flash in the pan or turn into something big. Hard to tell.

I remember when a car dealer in Lancaster put the first load on Hondas on their lot. Wifey and I almost fell over laughing at them. They were the ugliest tiny little things we'd ever seen. I never would have guessed how successful they would become.

They are already something big.
If you go to Google images and search FOTON you will see that they make everything from tractors to cars, SUVs, vans, buses, dump trucks, semis, you name it. I think they are China's "Hyundai"

the tractors are not new to our market though. they have been around quite a long time. Its not a machine at all tailored to the expectations of an American buyer. I've never heard of us working on or trading any of the tractors, but we have had in some of the JIMA backhoes that they mate to them and they where of unbelievably horrible quality. The one we had in, we ended up replacing every hydraulic hose on the unit... and it was new.

While I would agree with you. There are many in the Chinese tractor section that would not. I wouldn't own 1 .I always wonder if the Chinese people have as many problems with these Chinese tractors as some owners in the US and other parts where they are sold do .

Chinese tractors are no where near the quality of other brands. 1 day maybe, but not today

:2cents:I have one that we bought from Northern Tools the 40 XT and have not have any problems with it but one man made mistake once. Forgot to walk part of the land that I was going to clear out some saplings and did not walk the land. I went over a stump and it caught my backhoe hydraulic line and pulled it off and that was a easy fix with a flat tip screw driver.

The only support I needed so far was when the tractor was delivered and I could not find the travel lock pin to the backhoe, so I called the truck driver and no answer and then called Northern Tools and told them about it. Ten minutes later the truck driver called me and told me the pin was taped under the seat, so I called Northern Tools and they said now you have two pins one is on the way free of charge.

As far as filters and oil goes I have found all of them at my local and tractor stores when I have to do maintenance. I do need to find a dealer that works on Foton's incase I run into bigger problems that I can't handle To date and only 28 hours on the tractor plus playing around I have cleared out almost 1/2 acre for a burn site, killed close to 25 stumps, and knocked down almost 1/4 mile of saplings along the driveway from the mess the loggers left me.

Yeah I know folks are going to say buy American but at the time when I needed a tractor that was all I could afford. The tractor is Chinese but all my attachments are made in the USA and I am sure that I am not the only one that bought something that said made in China.

I'm glad to hear you haven't had any problems ,but 20+ hrs is hardly a test to be able to tell if any future problems will show. There was a member here Rob3rrl ? I have read a number of his post of major problems he had with his Chinese tractor. When buying a tractor,,, As long as one understands that these Chinese tractors won't be of the same quality as other brands then, by all means buy what you want. Most of the other brands aren't American made,but they are of higher quality than the Chinese tractors

Jinma and Foton are different companies. From all that I have read on the net, everything Jinma makes is inexpensive and of poor quality. Foton is trying to produce quality products. The Foton tractors seem to be decent quality, but not as good as major brands. If you could find a fairly new major brand tractor it would likely be better in the long run, but there are very few tractors with 4wd and a loader in good shape in the used market.

Most of the Foton owners that have posted seem to like their machines.

As a Chinese and American tractor owner myself, I would say that choosing which one to sell if I had to would be a hard choice.. also that if you can find a used Foton tractor that someone else has eaten the new tractor depreciation on, It could be a very good deal...

Also Chinese tractors are best suited to people with some mechanical aptitude who don't mind doing their own work. my :2cents:

Well yesterday i located a century 2535 about 5 miles from my house that was listed on craigslist. It has a FEL, 4x4, and only 166 hours. The seller is the original owner, and is selling due to moving out of state at the end of the week. The buyers of the house originally wanted it to clear the lane (3/10s mile long) and backed out at the beginging of the week. I'm picking it up this morning at 9am he's also throwing in with it an old brush hog and bale spear.

I have no problem wrenching on my own stuff. Infact i have never had any of my cars/trucks in anyone elses garage but my own. I will just have to learn my way around a tractor as i have never worked on one before.

Northern sells Foton tractors under their Nortrac name. They switched from Jinma a few years ago. They have full service facilities in Minnesota and s. Carolina as well as a network of affiliate repair facilities. I own a Nortrac Jinma and a Nortrac Foton. The Jinma has given me many years of reliable service. The Foton is new, so I don't have much history. Affordable Tractor in TX sells parts for both and they are very helpful. They also sell both brands of new tractors.
