Tractor
Ford 7710 II FWA, NH TB110 FWA w/ NH 46LB loader, JD 5303 2wd w/ loader
I found a local Ford 7710 II 4wd Cab tractor. The tractor has 2250 hours. Hours appear to be orig. as the tach works and the tractor is clean. Heres the catch. It is equipped with a side boom mower that was used on the railroad. Present owner has agreed to discount price and remove the side boom. Here is what the tractor will need:

1) 4 new tires ( I guess the rocks on the rr tracks ate them up)
2) 3 pt arms etc (PTO has never been used)
3) Lift levers (In the cab)
4) Battery box
5) Steps

What will all this cost me? I need to know so I can make an educated offer on the tractor. thanks

Figure $7000 for all new parts and tires. It could easily be more than that. 3PT linkage and battery box/step supports are stupid money to buy. So much for a cheap tractor.

Are you saying it has no 3-pt system at all, no rockshaft, nothing?
What hydraulic pump was being used to run the boom mower, an original engine mounted pump? Is this the same pump that will be used to operate the 3-pt hydraulics or do you need another pump?
This sounds to be not only parts expensive but labor intensive. Will you have to remove the cab to complete the changeover, I would think maybe yes?
Are the tires/wheels the sizes you need for your application?
I think the only way this could work dollar wise would be with used parts from a salvage tractor.

As Rick said, the tires are going to be very expensive even for cheap tires. As for the rest of the parts go to www.messicks.com and type in the model and you can search for the parts you need and see the prices for them. I think mine cost $1700 for just the rear tires and they were on the cheap side. Figure in the tubes, possible rim work and mounting and you have an expensive tire replacement.

I think the best way for it to work is to buy a complete donor tractor and salvage what is left. Even used parts are going to add up in a big way. I'd pass altogether. Some of the most abused, most poorly maintained equipment I see is owned by municipalities and utilities.
