Yes! Rasseling those logs looks like a darned hard way to earn a living.

Seeing those mill photos reminded me of family history I hadn't thought about in a long time. My Grandmother moved down to San Francisco right out of high school in 1903 to start training there as a nurse. She needed to support herself after her father died in a sawmill accident. That was in SW Oregon so it probably meant he was working with huge first-growth logs.
