Happy New Years to all! A farmer not too far from me posted up an old Dearborn 6' blade and asking $400 for it. Let me know if you think it's worth the asking price. The main tube is slightly bent but shouldn't affect the operation of the unit. The replaceable cutting edge was full of dirt and snow but it felt like it was sharp. He got the unit as a trade so he's never used it. He uses a 8' heavy duty blade behind his giant JD tractor. This blade has the ability to be adjusted in both directions, which I'm looking for. Also, it looks to be rather heavy, another quality I'm seeking as well.

I'm very fond of old USA made stuff so this one caught my eye. However, my knowledge in this arena is severely limited so thought I'd reach out.

Thanks.

I have a blade just like that. Gave $80 for it.

That one is missing the adjust handle. They were originally equipped with a linkage/handle that would release the pin to angle it from the seat. But most of them are missing that.

Also dont see the skid shoes either.

No way would I give $400 for it. But prices are very regional. Here in the midwest, Similar sized 3PH attachments like used with the ever-popular N-series fords are a dime a dozen

Thanks for the feedback. Hmm, Skid shoes - that's a new one on me. I didn't realize that a 3pt blade had skid shoes! My current one doesn't and I've never seen one. I don't see it in this picture either Dearborn 19-5 Rear Blade - owner's manual

You're correct about the missing handle linkage, but I have to wonder, how does one adjust the angle of the blade from the seat by simply releasing the pin?

Tree, rock, fencepost, etc.

Yep, looks like a hundred dollar creampuff, setting back in what we call, the "rust row", at the dealerships.

For my way of thinking $100 would be too much!

Looks nice & heavy. The adjust handle can be made up with some 3/8" round stock and a torch, or so it looks.

Assembly (3 pages)

Some wire brush work, then 2 or 3 coats of Permatex 81773 Rust Treatment, some Fluid Film at the moving surfaces and I think you'd have yourself a very nice dirt blade - much nicer that any $400 new blade you could find.

6 foot wide - not sure if it's wide enough for the OP's Mahindra.

I would keep on looking. The guy is so out of touch with his price he might get mad if you offered him what it is worth.

Agreed and I'm in no hurry. I have a 6' blade that I'm borrowing for the season and learning my way around the whole process. The owner doesn't even have a cell phone, LOL!! His neighbor had to post the CL ad.

Still, a very nice, hard working fella who represents the good people of this country very well.
