Some inverters don't run 6010/6011 like other machines.

So why all the fuss about inverters if they can't do everything a 15+ yr old machine like my Canox sparkler can do...

Or maybe I'm just that good? Doubt it!

AC for large rods is most likely to control arc blow. 7024 usually has more pointed ripples than 7018 because you can go faster. With 1/4" sometimes you can put a weld down over 24".

Smaller, lighter, higher duty cycle, higher output, lower input, nicer arc, portable, better control of arc, ect, ect, ect.....

Shall I go on?

Please do!

What I am referring to is that none of these inverters seem to run 6010 well (from what I have read online) yet my Sparkler has no issues with them or any other rods...

Inverters can be just as good at 6010 as any other machine...
Look at shieldarcs work with the v-350pro.... Even that powerarc 200 runs them real nice.
This machine will run them just fine, I am the issue..... Its only the really small inverters that have trouble.

Ok just seems to be a lot of discussion about inverters (dynasty 200) and some Chinese models not doing well with 6010.

SA V-350 pro is in a different class therefore I would hope that it can run them well.

Maybe guys that have a hard time with the 6010 rods are accustomed to running 7014-7018???

I know it's always a bit of a shocker for me when I light a 601* series rod after not doing so for a while.

Keep up the progress DeerMan looking better everyday!

Some do. I have a miller dynasty 200dx that runs 6010/6011 great.
I think it's the miller maxstars that have trouble with the 6010/6011.

I don't understand this as well! I've run more 6010 since being retired than ever on the job. In my little structural world of welding it was all 7018, I could go for years without ever seeing 6010 on a job site. After wire feeders came into construction, sometimes you wouldn't even see 7018 on a job.

My $6,000.00 Miller Dynasty 300 almost made a Tig weldor out of me, but it is a horrible stick machine! My old Miller 330 A/BP welding machine was a top of the line Tig welder in the 70's and 80's, and it ran 7018 fantastic, but by no means nothing to write home about with 6010. The Longevity Stickweld 250 I ran was very limited with 6010, but ran 7018 great! My Everlast Power Arc 200 is better with 6010, but the 250 ran 7018 better. It's strange to me the PA-200, and the Stickweld 250 like one brand of rod over the other. Even my V350-Pro likes different brands over the other. But my SA-200s could care less what brand of rod you use! I just don't understand these inverters! :confused3:

Well, I am planning on torch cutting some coupons, and burning a bunch of 6010 today. Let's see if I can do anything with them.... LOL

If not, I will try them with the huge hobart transformer at the museum. That should be able to run them.....

A transformer welder is like a carburetor, an Inverter is more like a high pressure common rail.
I don't know what would need to be done to fix a transformer machine, but the inverters is easy the parts can be found almost anywhere for a few bucks.
